This 20 minute Self Paced eLearning awareness course is designed to provide operators with general knowledge of safe working procedures that should be in place when working with machinery and equipment where there is a risk of entanglement or contact with moving parts.
Machine guarding is a safety feature around fixed or mobile plant and other engineering equipment. It often consists of a shield, cover, casing or physical barrier covering hazardous areas of a machine to prevent accidental contact with the operator or to control hazards like chips or sparks exiting the machine while it’s working.
This course looks at examples of machine guarding and explains a number of safe working procedures to aid workers in preventative maintenance and safe working practices.
Upon completion of this course, participants will learn:
● The key components of machine guarding
● How to conduct pre-operational checks
● How to identify common risks and hazards
● Procedures for notifying supervisors of faulty or damaged guarding
● The principle of Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO)
● Best practice safe operating procedures
This course is designed for organisation-wide delivery for employees and employers. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance on successful completion of this course.
